Volunteer at Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival

The Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival would be nothing without the amazing support of our volunteers. Thanks to you, our Festival continues to put on one of Western Pennsylvania’s largest celebrations of visual arts, crafts, educational activities, and performing artists year after year. We are always searching for help and volunteers of all ages are needed. Our Festival is the perfect opportunity for schools, churches, and professional groups as well as families and friends to contribute their talents.

Below are just some of the ways you can make a difference by volunteering for the Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival. Disclaimer: Children’s Area volunteers must be at least 13 years old. Volunteers up to age 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Minimum age for volunteers who handle money is 18. Volunteers must dress appropriately at the Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival. Clothing must not have offensive language/images. Bathing suits or visible undergarments are not permitted.

Ticket Sellers

Sell tickets for soda, lemonade, and other drinks at the Festival. Minimum commitment is 3 hours.

Greeters

Greeters are needed to meet performing artists and introduce them to the stage manager and other key Festival staff. Minimum commitment is 3 hours.

Hospitality

Replace water and ice in coolers at stages for performers. Wipe off tables in eating areas. Minimum commitment is 3 hours.

Information Booth Staff

Answer questions and distribute the Festival map, performance schedule, and visitor survey. Sell t-shirts and other Festival merchandise. Minimum commitment is 3 hours.

Program Auditors

Attend Festival performances, lectures, and other programs. Take notes on the quality and attendance at each show. Minimum commitment is 2 hours.

Office Help

Assist with mailings, laminate signs, make copies, and help with other general office duties. Commitment time varies and is on an as needed basis.

Festival Ambassadors

Ambassadors walk throughout the Festival and answer questions, distribute maps, and conduct visitor surveys. Festival t-shirt and badge are provided. Minimum commitment is 3 hours.

Gallery Docents

Familiar with the art displayed at the Westmoreland Art Nationals exhibits through information supplied by the Festival. Volunteers would answer questions and promote the sale of available artwork with a form provided. All actual sales would be conducted through the Festival office. Minimum commitment is 3 hours.

Photographers

Take pictures of Festival programming, booths, and visitors enjoying the Festival. Photographer badge is provided. Time commitment varies.

Benefit Auction

Collect art and crafts from donors during the Festival. Catalog each item. Sit with donated items before the auction and answer questions. During the auction, volunteers will issue numbers to bidders, walk items through the crowd, and collect payments.

Children’s Area

Assist children with projects in the Children’s Area during the Festival.

Heritage Panels

Panels are 8-foot by 4-foot plywood signs that our Festival provides to non-profit organizations to be displayed along the Heritage Trail during the Festival. Volunteers are needed to paint the panels each year and help organization post material to their panel.
